The governing of Akershus County Council:
The County Council is the supreme political body of the county, making decisions on important matters and matters of principle. The County Council of Akershus has 43 representatives.
Committees: The County Council has created three main committees. In certain matters, they have decision-making authority, in others they prepare matters for the County Council. The three committees are:

Committee for Transport and Environment
- Committee for Culture, Health and Industry
- Committee for Education and Competence
The County Executive Board is mainly concerned with matters relating to finance and planning. In addition, it prepares matters for the County Council. The board consists of 13 members, all derived from the County Council.
Boards, councils and committees: The County Council has several committees and councils, with a number of functions. Some of them have decision-making authority, others are advisory bodies.

People's initiative: Provided more than 500 inhabitants of Akershus support a proposition to the politicians, the County Council is obliged to deal with the matter. The proposal must be relevant to the activities of the County Council.
Duty of public consultation: Plans under elaboration in Akerhus County Council are dispatched for a hearing round. You can also find the plans online.
Question time: You can ask questions directly to the County Council. The question must be submitted at least two days prior to a County Council meeting.
