Environment

Akershus County Council has for the past 15 years worked actively with climate issues. The county's aim is to become carbon neutral by 2050, and a number of measures have been taken in order to reach this goal.

The county is among the world’s leading regions in promoting and practicing sustainable mobility. Norway as a whole has given strong incentives to stimulate the sales of zero emission vehicles – both battery and fuel cell electric - however, so far Norway lacks an incentive scheme for hydrogen refueling station (HRS) deployment and operation.

In a regional hydrogen strategy for Oslo and Akershus the two counties will facilitate the use of hydrogen for transport, focusing primarily on developing an infrastructure and laying the foundation for a market driven introduction of hydrogen.

Regional Power for Clean Transport

In October 2013 the European conference "Regional Power for Clean Transport" will take place in Oslo, Norway. Akershus County Council and HyER (Hydrogen, fuel cells and Electro-mobility in European Regions) will host the event, which aims to discuss how European regions can work together to promote green mobility. A number of internationally renowned speakers from politics, science and industry will attend.
