International work
International work in Scandinavia and the Baltic region has the highest priority.
The Gothenburg-Oslo cooperation is meant to develop the Gothenburg-Oslo region in terms of an area of establishment and settlement, making it more attractive and competitive.
Work promoting international social and economic integration receives financial support from the Interreg programmes of the European Union. Akershus participates in a number of these programmes.
The AER (Assembly of European Regions) and BSSSC (Baltic Sea States Sub-regional Cooperation) are all-European arenas that benefit the County Council in their cooperation with other regions.
The Oslo Region European Office in Brussels is important with respect to EU communication. The office belongs to Akershus County Council together with several other county councils.
Eastern Norway County Network is a cooperative between the Eastern counties, whose tasks include international work.
