Akershus County Council
Akershus County Council is a democratically elected body with regional responsibilities in areas such as education, transport, dental care and regional development.
The County Council is the supreme political body of the county, making decisions on important matters and matters of principle. The County Council of Akershus has 43 representatives, elected by popular vote. The County Mayor of Akershus is Ms. Anette Solli.
Akershus County Council’s administration consists of the County Administration as well as 45 sub-organisations. Approximately 4800 people are employed by the County Council of Akershus. The administration is led by the Chief County Executive, currently Mr. Tron Bamrud.

Akershus is often referred to as "the green belt of Oslo", surrounding Noweay's capital both in the west, east and north. Although Akershus has a relatively small geographic area (4,918 square kilometres), is among the largest counties in Norway in terms of population.
